Type and Placement of Appliances
Choosing the appliances should be made to meet particular family needs and tastes. Side-by-side refrigerator, dishwasher size, a double or single oven, microwave oven are some of the choices that need to be made.

Countertop and Backsplash
These choices are becoming more important. Today, there are many
more materials available - like granite, mica, tile, corian. Backsplash can be the same material or different. Choice of colors creates a color scheme to follow for paint and wallpaper selections.

Flooring
Selections are usually tile, marble, wood and wood laminate products. Area rugs are now used in the kitchen for practical and decorative reasons.

Sinks & Faucets
There is a wide choice available for both appliances. Selection should depend upon the specific needs of the chef. Choices include double sink, or pull out spray faucets which are now available in different colors.

Cabinet Material
It is usually available in wood or laminate. Type and color of the wood need to be determined, along with the door and drawer style. Lighting
Lighting is a very important element in the kitchen. Too bright tires the chef, too low can make precision cooking more difficult.
